This is the hole the dermatologist cut in my finger.

This is the hole the dermatologist cut in my finger.

First off I have to admit that this is minutia about my life. I thought I wouldn’t post stuff like this but, turns out, I do. Oh, well. Oh, and sorry for the blurry picture. I guess the iPhone doesn’t take good macro shots.

I had this bump on my finger for years that looked like a wart, but I never did anything about it. Finally, I bought various over-the-counter products to try and get rid of it. Nothing made a dent. It persisted. So I acquiesced to go to the dermatologist. He confirmed my suspicion that it was NOT a wart. He called it something else that I can’t remember because the name was too long, and I didn’t really care, I just wanted it gone. It had plagued my life for too long as it was.

Anyway, to my delight, he said he could cut it out. I was happy about this because it meant I probably wouldn’t have to come back to see the dermatologist and I wouldn’t have to do some long annoying regime to slowly get it to go away.

He stuck my finger with what felt like a small needle, and, I kid you not, my finger was completely numb in a matter of seconds! I figured he was going to get pretty vicious with the scalpel so I made it a point not to watch. Which was good I didn’t. He carved a gigantic crater in my finger! I didn’t actually look at it until that night, and was very surprised.

Anyway, my appointment with the dermatologist was in the morning before I started work and once I got to work I realized it is very hard to type with a numb finger. Try it. I vowed from that day on that I would not numb my finger before work again, only after. :)

It’s healing nicely, btw.
